(or ..._RU_ru.java ?)

I think I was just a little to fast here. You posted a feature request and added the new keyboard layout. I'm correct when I assume you need russian chars in the font?

I tested it in vmware, but I get '?' signs when I type. Could this be as I run on a western pc??

I think it because CRT uses latin codepage. for example, DOS sets cp866 encoding for cyrillic..
In qemu i saw questions too..
