Jini under ASL2
Submitted by monochromata on Thu, 03/31/2005 - 11:14.
Hi all,
Sun did release a new version of Jini technology under an ASL2 license. Since I'm still planning to integrate Jini into Jnode I'm curious if there are any licensing problems or if it is ok to add ASL2-licensed stuff to Jnode. Did anyone already combine ASL2 and LGPL projects and were there any legal problems?
Despite this issue I'm still planning to write the article about Jnode and Jini, but didn't find the time to do so yet .
Regards.

ASL2 can be used anyway you like (AFAIK)
AFAIK you can use ASL stuff under any license, including commercial, so there should be no problem with using it under LGPL..... I think there are only problems if you want to contribute LGPL code to ASL code.
What is ASL2 license ?
Is it a sun license (the same as for jdk source code) ?
If it is, we already have seen on this forum (about jdk source code) that it is not really compatible with LGPL.

ASL2 it the Apache Software L
ASL2 it the Apache Software License, version 2.0.
Not that I'm finished reading this http://www.apache.org/licenses/GPL-compatibility.html, it looks like it's more the GPL they write about, but I guess one get something out of it.

Seems ...
... like I'll have to read the licenses on my own
