Condition:
os: Windows XP
jnode: r2.4 source codes
bootloader: WinGurb(because I use windows)
Card: ATI RAGE PRO 128, AGP 4X(old, TNT2-generation card)
Process:
1. Install the WinGurb (got from googling)
make the WinGurb boot from boot.ini, so we can modify the C:\boot.ini to do some customize to alow doule OS bootloading.
2. Using "build build-files-NT"
I can get some files in C:\jnode\
3. Modify C:\gurb\menu.lst to load the jnode
the stage-nt1, or stagexxx generated by "build -build-files-NT" can not work for me(error when initial bootloading). this is the reason why I use WinGurb:)
4. restart PC
successfully loaded into Jnode, but frozen after some "red words":)
"red words": ...org.jnode.work not started
(some other "red words", I can not remember exactly)
4#. boot from other binary build
Using "build cd-x85-lite", I can get a iso in all/.../cdrom. I extact the content of ISO into c:\jnode.(in fact almost some to the original, at least have the same name).
I can boot into the jnode, and get the cmd prompt. good! some simple cmd test can be passed.
the different behavor between 4 and 4#, points that, "build-files-NT" target and "cd-x85-lite" target may generate different binary build.
ps: I can not get AWT GUI in 4#, I just get a color mess screen with a mouse can right-click(a menu to desktop), but the mess screen make everything unuseful!(Display card Compatibility problem? but ATI Radeon is supportted)

ATI or Nvidia?
Hi surfeit,
The graphics card driver is VGA, which is know to mess up the screen, it's not really supported. So for fixing the graphics we'd need to fix your graphics driver. But I'm a bit lost about what your card is, because TNT2 is from Nvidia, ATI Rage Pro and ATI Radeon are different too, I think. Would be good, if you could supply us the correct graphic card's name and the PCI-ID of the device.
You might also join our IRC channel, then we are perhaps able to build a new version containing a driver for your card, depending if there's allready a driver for your architecture.
About the NT boot manager I can not comment, sorry.
Thanks
Peter:
Thanks! My Card is ATI Rage 128 Pro, some xxxID is 1002:5046(re-correct,sorry for bad memory^_^), it is a ATI card, not a Nvidia Card. "TNT2-generation card"I said, just means it's a old card and just has the capacities similar to TNT2^_^
a random event?
x86 build also works for booting from harddisk.
So, I guess, this problem may be a random event? Maybe...
how contribute a new driver to jnode?
Peter:
I'v log into the IRC, but no body say something. I've done some investigate into graphic driver of jnode. I've know the basic point to hook a new driver. But, can you give some more guides about how to develop a graphic driver for jnode? source codes in o.j.driver seems not well documented.
I hope to contribute more to jnode. Thanks first.

Hi surfeit,
What's the status of that issue ? Many things changed since you reported that issue (but not on the ATI/nVidia driver side AFAIK).
Can you reproduce the bug ?

I've emailed surfeit asking him to give us an update. If I get no response, I suggest that we close the issue as "works for me" ... or set it to "postponed".
