JVM under JVM

A complaint about java (so I heard) is that java programs -being run under a virtual machine- are much slower than other programs.

I understand I it is posibile now (under Jnode) to run java programs without the added layer of Windows & JVM interfaces. That should be much faster, right?

Is it posible to run JNode under JNode (in a JVM)?

Cannot compile under Windows XP - OutOfMemoryError

I have downloaded Jnode from CVS to c:\jnode and try to "ant cd-x86".

[jnode.compile] The system is out of resources.
[jnode.compile] Consult the following stack trace for details.

Compile Issues

Hi, I'm trying to compile Jnode (0.2.3) on the commandline by typing "ant cd-x86-lite" and I keep getting an error.

BUILD FAILED
/home/jnode/all/build.xml:321:The following error occurred while
executing this line:
/home/jnode/all/build.xml:285:The following error occurred while
executing this line:
/home/jnode/all/build-x86.xml:118:
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError:method java.lang.Class.getAnnotation with signature(Ljava.lang.Class;)Ljava.lang.annotation.Annotation;was not found.

My jre version is 1.5, OS is Fedora5 with eclipse3.1.2.
And the build.sh(jnode/build.sh) does not work either:

Some JNode desktop candidates

Here is some candidates that I (or someone else) have found that could be used for a JNode desktop :

- JDistro : www.jdistro.com. There is discussion here about using it for JNode.
- Xito : xito.sourceforge.net
- Clematis, the Java Workspace project : jworkspaceprj.sourceforge.net/eng/index.html
- Project looking glass : there is a discussion here
- Jesktop : www.jesktop.org
