Installation process
Submitted by sanity on Sat, 12/26/2009 - 17:30.6 years ago (wow - time flies!) I posted this suggestion for what I thought was a clever approach to software installation based on the "0install" concept:
I was just thinking about how wonderful it would be to have an entire OS where the concept of software installation was obsolete, and I thought I'd check back here to see whether you guys had gone in this direction.
What is the current plan for software installation in JNode?

PPP support
Submitted by d3atiq on Wed, 12/23/2009 - 18:03.Hi,
Just to check, is there any PPP support in JNode? I could not find anything related in the sources. Any pointers to a Pure Java PPP implementation otherwise?
Thanks in advance.

i want to code for jnode in java some essentials applications
Submitted by clue on Wed, 12/23/2009 - 15:24.hello jnode developpers
well done
i am amazed by the work done
it is simply unbeleivable!
you should at least provide a simple explorer to run java apps from the hard disk or simply visit it
maybe i can develop this quickly enough to put it in the next ISO
but please dont do like all the linux distributions: a PACKAGE installer
i would be terribly sorry for that...
it seems that a lot of people quit the linux platform for this reason.
it seems to be a detail but it is not
old systems have never needed this kind of pocket of node dependencies problem to work well
a good operating system work only with application selected by the user from a device
this is my opinion: never let the computer choose place to run a software for you
i am very excited about this project
because i love java
and i was looking for a terrific os using it so here am i!
i code in java
so you can ask me anything to do
i am waiting for a response from the jnode contributors
thank you.
making jnode a dayly use operating system
Submitted by davide.bz on Sat, 12/12/2009 - 08:44.Hi,
Im am a senior j2ee developer/architect and I like very much the idea to
build a operating system with java. I think that using java services
and class structure to create a system is much more better than
using a free structure of files and conventions like in linux.
How much effort is necessari to male jnode to be usable in each day work?
For example what about:
- web browser
- email client
- office
- eclipse
?
To speed up the time is possible for you to make a layer that male linux
applications to work on top of jnode? Like firefox, openoffice, eclipse?
Thanks, Davide!
High Performance Computing
Submitted by sagsaw on Fri, 12/11/2009 - 06:02.Can Jnode find usage in HPC?
Can it be used as the OS for HPC platforms?
If so, then could this http://projectfortress.sun.com/Projects/Community be the programming language for applications on HPC running Jnode ?
64-bit Jnode could have a use case here ...
What say people?
