Success! Jnode 0.2.5 booting from Harddisk and EXT2
Submitted by Exile In Paradise on Tue, 12/11/2007 - 18:35.After a lot of trial and error, and far too many false starts, I have finally successfully built a Jnode 0.2.5 PC which boots and runs from an EXT2-formatted filesystem mounted read/wrote from the harddisk, without CDROM or USB support.
And I still have 14GB of free disk space to use for builds and testing.
Details after the break...

How is the VM(in java code) built to native code
Submitted by tweg on Fri, 12/07/2007 - 02:45.Hi:all
I am wordering how is the java code of VM is built into native code.(the byte code of jnode's VM can't run on the chip)
I have read some of the source code of JNode-Builder. I think it is this project which compile the byte code of jnode's VM to native code for the boot-loader to use.
But i am not sure how this is done in this project.
Can anyone make a discription on how the build process of the jnode OS is done internally.(what is done when we use the build.xml and what has been down by each step of the build)
Can't run JNode 0.2.5 with VMware Workstation 6.0.0.45731
Submitted by siegi44 on Tue, 12/04/2007 - 19:08.Hi,
some days ago I was discovering JNode and I really would like to take a look at it. So I downloaded the current version (0.2.5) and created a new virtual machine. I tried several settings (MS-DOS machine, "Other OS" machine, ...), but it doesn't work until now, then I tried to redownload and many other downloads. I can select OS Version from GRUB but shortly after that it does not go on booting. Should I try using JNode 0.2.4 or 0.2.3, because I couldn't find the "without MP"-Versions in GRUB.
I would like to contribute to JNode, because I like programming, but I have only seen screenshots up to now and I must say JNode looks great, but I can't see it live , but I really would like to!
hi and introductions
Submitted by NathanZhang01x on Mon, 12/03/2007 - 23:50.Hello all. My name is Nathan Guannan Zhang. You can call me Nate.
I am new here. I need a tour around the site, and I need to get to know the software. If anyone can do that, I will give him one of the things I usually hawk but for free this time. More details on that here.
I have been programming in various languages since I was a kid. I started at age nine, with BASIC, later some BASICA and finally a stayed with QBASIC until I was acquainted with Perl and PHP in 2002, at age 15. Then I did a little PHP, experimented with XML and did a lot of HTML for myself and friends. I have had several failed attempts at maintaining a MySpace page, so if you come across a Nathan Zhang, or several, they're probably my failed attempts. I have a long-used Facebook page. Just search for Nathan Guannan Zhang (as one search term, three words) and you will find me. I like more friends. You will probably need to mention that you know me from JNode. I also have a Ning account, nathanzhang, and a netlog account, space_farmer. I am a former member of NANAE, before it effectively died.
